At the Sept. 25, Yucaipa City Council meeting, a public safety update was given by Yucaipa Police Department, Yucaipa Fire Department and the Yucaipa Code Enforcement Department. Yucaipa Mayor Justin Beaver was absent. Yucaipa Police Department Yucaipa Police Captain Mike Walker gave the August 2023 Police Department stats and he said there were 4,058 calls for service which increased 619 calls from the previous month (July). 'It was quite a significant increase,' said Walker. Walker said aggravated assaults dropped by five (total of five); burglaries decreased by three (total of 19); theft related calls (larceny) increased by 12 (total 25) but down from June (total of 36); and motor vehicle thefts up by five (total 13) but were down from June (15).
